Race Track News
Four more horse racing tracks have applied for video slots licenses from the lottery commission.
Thistledown, Beulah Park, Raceway Park and River Downs all hope to join Scioto Downs as horse racing tracks with VLTs. Northfield Park and Lebanon Raceway are the only two remaining tracks that have not yet applied for VLT licenses. The lottery commission is expected to take a month to review the applications.
Penn National has also filed its request with the state’s racing commission to relocate its race tracks from Grove City to Austintown and Toledo to Dayton. Beulah Park will remain in Grove City for at least one more season. How long it takes to get the relocation approved and the new facility constructed in Austintown will determine if Beulah is in Grove City in 2013-14.
And Thistledown, currently owned by Caesars Entertainment, filed its request with the racing commission to sell its racing permit to Rock Ohio Caesars. This is the first step in the possible relocation of Thistledown, although no formal application to relocate has been made yet.
