Racinos on a Roll
For the fourth consecutive month, Ohio’s seven racinos have exceeded the four casinos in revenue. July racino revenues totaled a near record $73.1 million, only behind May’s $73.6 million. Casino revenues totaled $69.5 million, a modest $1.5 million above last year (2.2%) but $6 million more than in June.
Horseshoe Cleveland saw no change over last year’s $17.7 million, but the other three casinos all experienced slight increases. Hollywood Columbus generated the most revenues among the casinos for the month of July. The $18.2 million was 3.4% better than a year ago. Horseshoe Cincinnati, with revenues of $16.6 million, was up 1.8% over last year while Hollywood Toledo revenues of $17 million were 1.2% above last year.
Among the five racinos that were open a year ago, Belterra Park experienced the greatest surge with revenues of $6.1 million, a 45.2% increase over last year. Hard Rocksino had the highest revenues. The $18.7 million represented a 19.1% increase over last year. Scioto Downs with revenues of $12.8 million was 8.5% higher than last year. The other two racinos experienced declines from a year ago. Miami Valley Gaming dipped to $10.6 million, a 2.8% decrease. Thistledown experienced the sharpest decline, sliding 14.8% to $9.2 million.
