A second racino in the Dayton area is nearing the start of construction. Miami Valley Gaming & Racing has completed its purchase of harness racing licenses from the Lebanon Trotting Club and Miami Valley Trotting. The Ohio State Racing Commission gave preliminary approval to relocating the Lebanon Raceway to a site at Ohio 63 and Union Road, off I-75. However, at its latest meeting, the racing commission told developers to rethink their plans. Miami Valley Gaming had proposed a 700-seat grandstand. The racing commission thinks that is too small. It is unclear if Miami Valley Gaming will make any revisions.
Plans call for live racing 75 days a year and 1,800 VLTs. The racino is expected to open the first quarter of 2014.
