Racino News
The Dayton City Commission unanimously approved Penn National’s development plans to build a racino at the site of a former Delphi plant. There will be a harness track, 600-seat grandstand and 1,500 VLTs. Construction is expected to begin in the spring and open in the second quarter of 2014.
Hurdles still remain. Penn National’s application to relocate Raceway Park from Toledo to Dayton and their application to obtain a VLT operator’s license must still be approved. And a decision in the appeal of a Franklin County ruling that tossed a lawsuit challenging the legality of VLTs at racetracks is still pending.
The Hard Rock racino at Northfield Park will be known as Rocksino. The name is a play on racino and a tribute to Cleveland being the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll. Rocksino is scheduled to open in December.
