DeWine Begins Crackdown

Less than one week after announcing his intentions to take legal action against Internet cafes, Attorney General Mike DeWine sprang into action.

At a briefing for law enforcement officials, DeWine announced the formation of an Internet Gaming task force within his office that will assist local law enforcement agencies in prosecuting Internet cafes.

DeWine concluded the day by conducting raids on six Internet cafes in Cuyahoga County and the corporate offices of VS2 Worldwide Communications in New Jersey, a company that provides software for sweepstakes games. Bank accounts, records and video terminals were seized.
