Internet Café Referendum Short on Signatures
Supporters of Internet cafes, hoping to prevent HB 7 from going into effect and putting the issue before voters, have failed in their first attempt to garner the required 231,148 valid signatures. The Ohio Secretary of State’s office announced that 160,008 of the 433,884 signatures submitted, representing 12 counties, were valid. The proponents of Internet cafes will now have until October 3 to get 71,140 signatures from 32 more counties to get the issue before voters on the November 2014 ballot.
