Thistledown has decided to remain at its current location in North Randall.  Before opening, Rock Ohio Caesar’s had reached an agreement with the Governor’s office that would have allowed the track to relocate to the Akron-Canton area within 12 miles of the city of Green. A decision had to be reached by June 11.

In 2012, voters in Green approved a ballot issue that would prohibit gaming, except for nonprofit charitable purposes, within city limits.

In 2013, Rock Ohio Caesar’s spent $89 million to renovate Thistledown.  VLT’s were added as well as eating and drinking establishments.  With the announcement to stay, Rock Ohio Caesar’s also stated they would spend another $60 million to further upgrade the existing facility.
