HB 7, which would all but shut down sweepstakes cafes, could sit for months before the Ohio Senate reaches any sort of decision. It is possible that a legislative committee will be asked to take an in depth look at all forms of gaming including casino gambling, racinos and other charitable events as well as the sweepstakes cafes before taking any action on HB 7. There is also speculation that senators prefer regulation over elimination of sweepstakes cafes. The Senate has other priorities as well. The Senate President has stated that the focus over the next month will be on the state budget bill.
