The Ohio Lottery Commission has handed out the state’s first VLT operator’s license to Scioto Downs. The racino will open in two phases. Phase 1 is set to open June 1. There will be 1,800 VLT machines, a café and a bar and lounge. Later this year, phase 2 will open, which will include an additional 325 VLT machines and a 300-seat buffet. The racino will be open 24/7 365 days a year. It is expected to generate more than $10 million a month in revenues, of which a third will go to the state. Ohio Lottery regulations require the VLTs to pay out a minimum of 85% of the take from customers.
