September Revenues Down
The 9 gambling facilities in Ohio that have been open for at least 30 days all experienced revenue declines from August. On the casino front, Horseshoe Cincinnati saw the smallest decline, less than 1%. Hollywood Toledo revenues declined 8.9% from August while Horseshoe Cleveland dropped 18% and Hollywood Columbus 12%.
From a year ago, more of a mixed bag. Hollywood Columbus saw a slight upward bump of .9% from September, 2013. Hollywood Toledo was up 3.3% over last September. Horseshoe Cleveland (-13%) and Horseshoe Cincinnati (-18%) took steep tumbles from last September.
With the exception of Scioto Downs (-8.4%), all racinos saw double digit drops in revenue from August. Hard Rock Rocksino down 12.3%, Thistledown down 14.9%, Belterra Park Gaming down 10.6% and Miami Valley Gaming down 17.4%. Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway opened the end of August and Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course opened September 17.
Scioto Downs and Thistledown were the only racinos open last September. Scioto Downs revenues were up 6.8% from a year ago while Thistledown revenues dropped 9.4% from a year ago.
