Revenues at three of Ohio\u2019s four casinos were up from a year ago.\u00a0Hollywood Toledo led the way with a 24.2 percent increase over January 2014 ($14.3 million).\u00a0Hollywood Columbus had the highest revenue for the month.\u00a0The $17.9 million was a 17 percent increase over last year.\u00a0This was also the third time in the past four months that Hollywood Columbus generated the most revenues among the casinos.\u00a0Horseshoe Cleveland was close behind with revenues of $17.4 million, a 4.5 percent increase over last year. Horseshoe Cincinnati was the only casino to show a decline, down 6.2 percent to $15.2 million.<\/p>\n
Three of the four racinos that were open a year ago also saw revenue increases.\u00a0The largest increase was Miami Valley Gaming with revenues of $9.7 million, a 24.7 percent increase over last year.\u00a0Hard Rock\u2019s $15.6 million was the highest revenue among the racinos, a 21.7 percent increase over last year.\u00a0Scioto Downs increased 12.4 percent to $10.9 million.\u00a0Thistledown was the only racino showing a decrease from a year ago, with revenues of $8.8 million, a 1.5 percent drop.<\/p>\n
The weather was probably a significant factor.\u00a0January of 2014 saw lots of snow and bitter cold.\u00a0A couple of the casinos were actually closed for more than two days.\u00a0January of 2015 had little snow and relatively moderate temperatures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
