Dueling Trademarks

The Ohio State University has filed its opposition to the use of “The Shoe” as a trademark being sought after by Caesars Entertainment. Caesars wants to use “The Shoe” for “entertainment services” such as live concerts. OSU claims “The Shoe” has made reference to the football stadium since at least 1988. OSU also claims that Caesars use of the trademark would lead people to believe OSU is endorsing the casino. OSU registered “The Shoe” as a trademark in 2006.
